SARA (Spousal Assault Risk Assessment Guide) and B-SAFER (Brief Spousal Assault Form for the Evaluation of Risk).

Both of these risk assessment tools are designed to be used in intimate partner violence (IPV) cases. The B-SAFER is designed for police use. It is a shorter version of the SARA, and is meant to be used when the assessor is under a time constraint. After using the B-SAFER, and when time permits, the SARA should be used to get a more in-depth assessment of the case. Overall, it is advised that the SARA be used in cases to get a more comprehensive view of the case, unless time constraint precludes this.
